After 6 weeks of living in two Airbnb villas we finally moved into our beautiful home in the Umalas. This area is popular with expats, has many luxurious villas and there is a French and Montessori school. It is nice and quite yet still only 10-15 mins away from busy Seminyak, Petitenget and our school. We discovered that our villa doesn’t make it onto Google Maps and we don’t have a letter box but that’s ok!
The house is quite new and was designed by a French owner with great style. There is one feature wall full of photos the owner took on his travels and there is some wonderful decorations of which Demi has started to copy and draw. Apart from the rain every few days, it has been very hot so we are really enjoying the amazing pool and garden. We are getting used to living in the tropics with Mozzies and listening to the sounds of geckos talking to each other.
Every morning at 6am we hear the nearby local temple play traditional music and a man sings the prayers (the kids have never heard it so we all can sleep through it as well!) The other day somehow a chicken appeared in our garden and it got scared and managed to run into our bedroom and bathroom! Lucky the Villa Manager was around and caught it. Around us there are rice fields, traditional homes, villas, shops, bakeries, and cafes/restaurants. We are walking distance to a great place called Bali Buda and nearby you can get a Nasi Campur for $2 at a traditional Warung and spend $8.50 on a superb Sunday Roast at the Plumbers Arms Pub.
It has been great to finally call a place home and start nesting ☺ Looking forward to exploring the area more including the nearby spa’s of which my feet are very sore…
